Stanley
1907 - Ormond Beach Florida
One of the three Model K Stanleys produced in 1907 is preparing to make a speed trial run on the beach.
The world land-speed record had been set the previous year by Fred Marriott in the Stanley Rocket. He attained
a speed in excess of 127 mph. and was the first human to exceed two miles per-minute.
Note: The seat cushion has been removed to lower the driver and decrease wind resistance.

Hold the press! Flash: Madeira Drive., Brighton. Americans Sue and Chris Greaves have crossed the finish line in their 1901 Locomobile, at 3:54 pm, on Sunday, November 6th, 1994. The 57-mile run began about seven that morning from Hyde Park in London. To say they were "pooped" doesn't quite cover the story.
Note: To qualify, you need to complete the run by four pm.
